TED is a global non-profit organization to uphold the spirit of ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’. It was started in 1984 as a small conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology Entertainment and Design, to talk about how their ideas were converging. The annual TED conference invites world’s leading thinkers and Doers. TED has been host to an illustrious repertoire of speakers including Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Gordon Brown, Billy Graham, Richard Dawkins, Richard Stallman, and Bill Gates.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
